From Paris to Monaco

The Conti story begins in 1950, when M. Siksik founded a small independent manufacturing company in Paris under the name SACOME (Société d'Ateliers de Constructions Mécaniques et électriques). Combining a passion for espresso with a background in engineering, he began producing espresso machines that would go on to define a brand.

M. Siksik named his brand Conti after the location of his original factory — Quai Conti, on the South Bank of the River Seine in Paris. That very building now houses the famous Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint), a government institution renowned for producing France's coins.

Six years later in 1956, Prince Rainier of Monaco saw an opportunity to strengthen Monaco's economy by attracting world-class manufacturers to the principality. Conti was among those invited to relocate, and the company established itself across two sites in Monaco.

One site overlooked the iconic Monaco harbour, housing the head office and factory. The other, located in a small industrial area nearby, served as the company's administrative centre — not far from where Conti operates today. Most notably, the original manufacturing site had a direct view of the starting grid of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Monaco.

Over 70 years on, that same spirit of precision, passion, and craftsmanship continues to define every Conti machine.
